SUMMARY:Guided Bird Walk along the Green River!
DESCRIPTION:Date: May 23\, 2026\n\nTime: 8:00 a.m.\n\nLocation: Swiftwater Farm\n\nGuide: Mike Resch\n\nJoin us for an easy 2-hour guided bird walk in search of residents and Neotropical migrants that visit the region to raise their young. We will be exploring open grassy fields\, brush\, and edges along the Green River where we will have the opportunity to see and hear a large diversity of species. Highlights along the river should include Louisiana Waterthrush and Yellow-throated Warbler.\n\nMike has been a birder since getting his first pair of binoculars at 8 years of age. Since then\, he's birded throughout the US and Canada\, birding extensively in all 50 states and 10 provinces. Mike's state birding passion is chronicled in his blog www.statebirding.blogspot.com. He formerly lived in New England where he was the Chair of the New Hampshire Rare Birds Committee. His technical specialty as an environmental engineer is in cleaning up hazardous waste sites. Since retiring to Hendersonville\, NC\, Mike has enjoyed birding the many excellent birding spots in the NC mountains and the upstate of SC. He is a co-coordinator for the western NC region of the North Carolina Bird Atlas and a guide for Ventures Birding Tours. Mike/Ventures Birding Tours has graciously donated their time to lead this walk.\n\nFor your safety\, do not attempt this activity if it is beyond your ability and experience. Participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear and bring a snack\, water\, and any personal medication that may be required. Be sure to bring your binoculars!\n\nIn case of inclement weather\, please contact Pam Torlina by e-mail\, pam@conservingcarolina.org\, by 7 a.m. on the day of the walk and/or check the Conserving Carolina website to see if the walk will take place.\n\nSpace is limited to 20 and pre-registration is required\; RSVP below.\n\nFor more information\, email pam@conservingcarolina.org.
