Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
Job description:
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Operates: excavators, dozers, graders, tractors, rollers, trench compactors, jumping jacks, haul trucks, and skid steers
· Transports tools and other construction equipment to and from construction sites
· Performs routine maintenance, inspects and fuels vehicle and equipment prior to beginning shift
· Assists skilled workers as assigned, this may include jobs such as demolition, shoveling, greasing, fueling, putting up silt fences and other manual labor tasks
· Unloads materials that are delivered such as pipes or tools and distributes them to appropriate location as identified by supervisor, project plans, or specifications
· Prepares tools and materials such as silt fencing
· Cleans and prepares specific areas of jobsite as assigned, this may include shoveling, cleaning up rubble debris, and trash
· Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools
· Directs traffic near, in, or around work zones
· Motions equipment operator to assist with alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials
· Cleans jobsite at the end of the day, ensuring trash is properly disposed of and materials or equipment are properly stored
· Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to operate heavy machinery with minimal coaching
· Ability to read building plans related to heavy civil projects.
· Ability to spread knowledge down to the positions below you
· Ability to listen to, understand and follow directions
· Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change
· Ability to work with a variety of personalities
· Ability to perform basic arithmetic as needed to count, take inventory, read grade stakes, and equipment GPS
· Upkeep a positive team attitude and open communication

· Trenching & Shoring Certification
· Heavy Equipment Operator Certification
· First Aid/ CPR
· Erosion Control Certification
· GPS Training 1

· Plan Reading Certification
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Vocational school training or apprenticeship preferred
· Prior job experience in heavy civil construction required
· Valid driver’s license- CDL license preferred
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time operating heavy machinery and in all weather conditions and terrains
· Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas
· Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
· Must be able to work in all weather conditions and work on Saturdays and at night, when needed
