About the Role
Mountain Aging Partners is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Finance Director to serve as a key partner to the Executive Director and leadership team. This role is central to ensuring the financial health, integrity, and sustainability of the organization while supporting programs that directly impact the lives of those we serve.
The Finance Director will lead day-to-day financial operations while also providing high-level financial insight, forecasting, and guidance to support informed decision-making and long-term planning.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the Executive Director and leadership team
Oversee all core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and monthly close
Prepare and present accurate, timely financial reports to leadership, the Finance Committee, and Board of Directors
Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP) and nonprofit financial standards
Coordinate annual audit preparation and serve as liaison with external auditors and Form 990 preparers
Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and organizational sustainability
Provide financial oversight of grant and program funding, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting
Partner with program and operations staff to align financial processes with service delivery and funding requirements
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management
Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and financial reporting
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to financial stewardship
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in nonprofit financial management
Experience with financial audits and Form 990 preparation
Experience with grant budgeting, compliance, and reporting
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
Experience presenting financial information to senior leadership and/or a Board of Directors
