Position Summary
Help ensure neighbors in Henderson County have access to nutritious food. Interfaith Assistance Ministry (IAM) is seeking a bilingual Food Pantry & Mobile Pantry Associate to support pantry and mobile food distribution programs serving our community. This position assists with daily pantry operations, mobile pantry events, and IAM’s Last Mile Food Distribution initiative, which expands food access through mini mobile pantry distributions in underserved communities. The Associate works alongside staff and volunteers to ensure neighbors receive food with dignity, respect, and efficiency. Because many neighbors served by IAM speak Spanish as their primary language, fluency in both English and Spanish is required. This role reports to the Food Services Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily food pantry operations including stocking shelves, sorting food, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean pantry environment.
• Receive, sort, and store food deliveries and donations.
• Provide bilingual assistance to neighbors accessing pantry services and help ensure a welcoming and respectful experience.
• Support volunteers during pantry operations and work collaboratively to ensure smooth food distribution.
• Assist with setup, distribution, and breakdown at Mobile Pantry events.
• Support IAM’s Last Mile Food Distribution initiative through mini mobile pantry events serving underserved communities.
• Load and unload food and supplies for pantry and mobile distributions.
• Drive IAM vehicles, including vans or box trucks, when needed for food pickups or mobile pantry events.
• Assist with basic recordkeeping and distribution tracking.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and organizational activities as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support IAM’s food distribution programs.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Spanish (required).
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
• Comfortable driving vans or box trucks.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 40–50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work respectfully with neighbors experiencing food insecurity and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Commitment to IAM’s mission of serving neighbors with dignity and compassion.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–2 years of work experience preferred.
• Experience in nonprofit, food distribution, warehouse, grocery, or community service settings.
• Experience working with volunteers or in customer service roles.
• Familiarity with food safety practices or inventory handling.

Work Environment
Work is performed both at IAM’s food pantry facility and at mobile distribution sites throughout Henderson County. Duties include standing, walking, lifting food boxes, loading vehicles, and interacting with neighbors and volunteers during food distributions.

Schedule
Typical weekday schedule with occasional evening or weekend mobile pantry events as needed.
